For most ranches, the kitchen is the
center of activity. The noon meal, or dinner as it
is called in the West, (supper is the evening meal!)
is the ranch version of a chat room!
I had the opportunity to photograph
the kitchen at the 71 Ranch in Elko. In winter time,
the ranch is quiet and some cookies cooling on the
counter and bread rising were the only indication
anyone was about.
I am predominantly a people photographer
shooting mostly in color, so it was fun to tell the
story of this historic ranch’s kitchen in black
& white, and without people.
